Germany Quitting Nuclear Energy
Germany became one of the countries that was mostly concerned with any problems arising from the production of electricity through the use of nuclear power. The developments in technology allowed the country to reconsider its position as it comes to power after the events in Japan this year when thousands of people were affected by the nuclear crisis (when reactor malfunctioning caused serious leaks of radiation in a power plant) in the country as a result of a devastating earth quake.
Germany has been a traditionally advanced country when it comes to observing environmentally friendly energy production. Germans have been producing the most green technologies for decades and have been researching various types of energy accumulation without harming the environment. The country is also a strong red diesel supplier - thus developing chain of distribution of fuel that is less harmful to the environment.
And in this context, the country is aiming to become the first to be dependent almost solely on renewable sources of energy. Siemens, a main energy technology developer in the world and the biggest in Germany, has announced it would no longer produce nuclear generators for the use of production of electricity - this decision is a landmark in the energy history in the country and means that new efforts would be paid by the authorities to stop the production of dangerous energyand to focus on renewables.
Thus Germany is aiming to achieve a goal of energy production from alternative energy sources scoring some 75-80% of the whole energy produced in the country (’Focus'News Agency, Germany). The objective is achievable, according to both scientists and law makers and investors are already getting ready for large investments especially in the field of research and developing new technologies that would allow the achievement of the ambitious goal.
If achieved, Germany would become the biggest country in the world that would have an energy production industry based almost entirely on renewable energy sources and would definitely be the greenest economy in the world.
